Rent

It seemed a good deal at the time,
3 bedrooms and 2 showers too,
But now the rent is gonna climb,
We're really in the poo.

It seems the markets upside down,
Like nobody can find a home,
But still the rent-bill brings a frown,
Enough to make me foam.

To go elsewhere? A tedious task,
And the savings would not be so great,
A discount, then? I'll try, I'll ask,
We'll see what is our fate.

Perhaps to buy, would be too hard,
When rent has put you in the red,
It bears some thought, in some regard,
To keep the family fed.

But life goes on, in any case,
There's often nothing we can do,
Put on a smile, show a brave face,
and have another brew...
